Merger
[edit]- Against merger. I was under the impression that defunct TV channels kept their articles, and their replacement got a new article. For example, take your pick from the "former channels" section of Template:CSC Media Group. Each of those channels were superceeded by another launched by CSC Media Group. In the particular case of Showcase TV, that was previously AnimeCentral. Now both have separate articles reflecting their different development, history, and closure. If and when True Entertainment eventually starts, this article should reflect that channel's programming and its history including the aborted rebrand of AnimeCentral to True Entertainment, and the later rebrand of Showcase TV to True Entertainment, without going into detail about the programming of its predecessors. - In regards to merger. However defunct TV channels 'The Big Deal' and 'Movie Mix' are just combined under the history of Freeview Channel 32 [now Sony Movies]...and there is more of a difference between the output of 'The Big Deal' and 'Sony Movies' [like the difference I would guess between a Japanese cartoon channel and a throwback service] than say 'Movies4Men' and 'Sony Movies Action'...where nothing much has changed in the types of films/programmes shown, its obviously just the same channel under a gender neutral 'Sony company brand'.
- So if you are going to have separate articles for each TV channel brand, then you shouldn't just be redirected to Sony Movies when you search for 'The Big Deal' with the old UK channel given an article alongside the brief one provided for the Indian Big Deal TV channel, however if its just going to be kept under Sony Movies to simplify the search process...then all the new articles for the rebranded Sony channels should be merged with the articles for all the old True services [just to keep to the same process/format as the history of the channel currently found on Freeview Channel 32] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.152.238.53 (talk) 13:34, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
- However as there was another Sony Channel operating as a pay TV service [i.e. on Sky and Virgin Media], maybe this retro/throwback TV service should be continued under the old True Entertainment article with the title amended to Sony Channel and the old pay channel's article becoming Sony Entertainment Television (defunct) instead...

– The channel is expected to be merged into Sony Channel on 18 September 2019. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.0.105.95 (talk) 23:09, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
- Comment: This really should be a page merge request, not a page move. And the specific article that True Entertainment should be proposed to merge into is Sony Channel (UK and Ireland). Zzyzx11 (talk) 12:17, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
